Fire Service Safety Testing, Inc. was founded with a singular mission: to ensure that fire department equipment meets the highest safety and compliance standards. Serving fire departments since 1990, we have been trusted partners throughout the Northeast, providing expert inspection, testing, and repair services for ground ladders and fall protection equipment. We are NFPA, OSHA, and PESH compliant, and have tested over 65,000 ladders to date across more than 700 client departments in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Mission Statement
“Fire Service Safety Testing, Inc. is dedicated to Firefighter Elevation Safety throughout the Northeast. We provide NFPA 1932 Ground Ladder Inspection, Testing and Repairs as well as NFPA 1983 Life Safety Inspections including Belts, Harnesses, “Bail Out”, Rope, Webbing and Hardware.”
Steve Speer, President & CEO
Steve Speer brings over 52 years of experience as a firefighter to Fire Service Safety Testing. A retired lieutenant from Ridge Road Fire District in Rochester, N.Y., and former chief of the Hilton (N.Y.) Fire Department, Steve is a current member of the NFPA’s Ground Ladder Testing Committee. He is also a published author: “Take Nothing for Granted” in Fire Chief Magazine, and “Slipping Through the Cracks” in Fire Rescue Magazine (February 2015, issue on fall protection safety).
